While Anchorage might be the most commercial city in Alaska, it definitely isn’t without its local gems. Something we didn’t expect was that Alaskans are apparently pizza crazy! Every time we asked someone local to suggest a great place to eat, pizza was almost always involved. So we thought we would highlight a few of our favorites.
441 W. 5th Ave Suite 100,
Anchorage, AK 99501
Grab a reservation because this place fills up fast! Local chief Guy Conley is really doing great things with this made from scratch menu full of pizza, pasta, and sandwiches. Our favorite menu item had to be the Meatball Sandwich. It featured tender meatballs, marinara, house-made mozzarella, and was served on the freshest crunchiest bread.
3300 Old Seward Hwy,
Anchorage, AK 99503
Chipotle Steak, Santa’s Little Helper, and Amazing Apricot. These are some of the crazy pizzas Moose’s Tooth has in store for you. With dozens of creative pizzas and an ever- changing specials menu, they have something for everyone. Not to mention the (freaking delicious and we’re still dreaming about them) sweet and spicy Korean chicken wings.
504 W. 5th Ave.

Annnd after polishing off all of that pizza, you have to go for something sweet! The Kobuk is seriously the best-kept (not so secret) place to stop in Anchorage. Now we are talking about a state that loves its coffee so you may be tempted to drive through one of the hundreds of Alaskan coffee huts and we can’t fault you for that. The witty names alone pretty much pull the car off the road themselves, but you will have truly missed out if you don’t check out The Kobuk.
The Kobuk is a quaint little storefront in downtown Anchorage selling all kinds of gifts, jewelry, china, and body products. But if you venture past the wall full of tempting loose-leaf tea, you will be greeted by a pastry case full of the day’s sweets and a counter serving the best coffee & tea in town. I would not go back to Alaska without getting an Iced Chai & hands down one of the best donuts of all time.
